Summary

It studies criminal mediation as part of a restitutive justice that changes the paradigm of retributive justice. It argues that traditional criminal proceedings leave little room for the victim and produce double victimisation, and presents mediation as a meeting between the victim and the person who caused harm to build an agreed version of the facts and, possibly, to reconcile. It examines the role of the mediator. It is useful for students of criminal law and for those training as mediators in the Venezuelan criminal field.
