Summary
A short column in which the author, a victim of a serious crime, asks how victims and offenders coexist in the same community and how to move out of victimization. She questions the messages of professionals and the media that associate every crime with hopelessness and revenge, and presents Víctimas por la Paz as a movement that speaks of coexistence, integration, and pacification. She argues that those who committed crimes were often also victims, and proposes looking at interdependencies instead of dividing the world into good and bad. It is useful as discussion material on victim identity.
