Summary
Report of a project of the Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de La Habana, with the participation of the Tribunal Supremo, the Fiscalía, the Organización Nacional de Bufetes Colectivos and the Ministerio del Interior. It proposes easing the burden on the Cuban criminal system by concentrating it on the most serious offences and involving the public, through expediency measures and restorative justice. It combines legal analysis and fieldwork, identifies obstacles, opportunities and costs of the current system and sets out viable alternatives. It is useful for those designing criminal law reforms and for those researching restorative justice in Cuba.
