Summary

A paper by a researcher at the Instituto de Ciencias Penales of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Faced with escalating violence, the loss of legitimacy of criminal institutions and the context of participatory democracy, it proposes designing a restorative justice model that promotes social integration and reconciliation. It starts from the constitutional mandate to promote mediation, conciliation and arbitration and, ten years later, asks how the alternative methods have developed in the Venezuelan criminal field. It is useful for those studying Venezuelan criminal reforms and the foundations of the restorative approach.
