Summary
A philosophical reflection on the relationship between the human development of persons deprived of liberty and the principles of restorative justice. The author starts from the capabilities approach as a conception of human development, reviews the restorative conceptual framework and examines which aspects of the prison situation touch both approaches, from the standpoint of the philosophy of criminal law. It is useful for those studying sentence enforcement, for those working in prisons and for those who wish to link human rights theory with restorative practices.
