Summary

It addresses two actors who have gained prominence in criminal justice reforms: the victim and the prosecutor. It traces the historical evolution of the victim's position, from vengeance and composition to its displacement by the State's interest in punishment, and presents restorative justice as a new paradigm that offers a different view of conflict and more participatory solutions. It describes the new role of prosecutors within that framework. It is useful for members of public prosecution services, students of victimology, and those seeking foundations for restorative programs.
