Summary
A lecture by Ilana Martins, criminal defence lawyer and professor at the Federal University of Bahia, on the second day of the 3rd International Seminar on alternative solutions in criminal proceedings. The seminar was promoted by the Conselho Nacional do Ministério Público, the Ministério Público Federal and the Escola Superior do Ministério Público da União. The talk situates restorative justice in the Brazilian criminal system and points out its limits, among them the principle of mandatory prosecution, and comments on a bill under way. It is in Portuguese. It is useful for those working in the public prosecution service.
