Summary

A short study from the Universidad Tecnológica de El Salvador that starts from the limited effectiveness of retributive justice and presents restorative justice as more appropriate for dealing with adolescents in conflict with the criminal law. It describes the normative basis of the responsibility model of the Ley Penal Juvenil and its notable features, and looks closely at the early forms of ending proceedings: remission, cessation of proceedings, conciliation and withdrawal of the action. It is useful for those studying Salvadoran juvenile criminal justice and its restorative outcomes.
