Summary
A thesis that starts from the rise in the number of adolescents in detention in Peru between 2021 and 2022 and the limited effectiveness of the punitive approach for their reintegration. It explores how to strengthen prosecutorial remission, which diverts the adolescent from judicial proceedings, in the cases from 2017 to 2021 in the Callao Prosecutorial District, including the effect of the pandemic. It combines semi-structured interviews with staff of the family prosecutors' offices and a review of national and international literature to propose measures consistent with restorative justice. It is useful for prosecution teams and for those designing youth justice programmes.
