Summary

Summary results of a New Zealand Ministry of Justice study comparing the reoffending of 4,373 people who took part in a restorative conference between 2008 and 2013 with a matched group of 12,959 people in similar circumstances. It measures the rate and frequency of reoffending, serious reoffending, and subsequent imprisonment at one and three years, broken down by offense type, for Māori, and for young people aged 17 to 19. It explains the matching method and its limitations, such as participants' self-selection. Useful for those who need impact data to support or evaluate programs.
