Summary
An evaluation report, produced at KU Leuven with support from the Flemish Government, on Flanders' youth criminal law decree of 15 February 2019, focusing on the role of the public prosecution service. Using data from prosecution records and statistics as well as individual and group interviews, it examines whether youth prosecutors respond more quickly to offenses, whether they prioritize the restorative responses provided for in the decree—such as mediation and restorative group conferencing—and how they coordinate the criminal response with youth assistance. Useful for those who design or evaluate restorative responses in youth justice.
