Summary
An article presenting the first findings of empirical research from the Master's program in Law at Universidade La Salle on the Centro Judiciário de Solução de Conflitos e Cidadania – Práticas Restaurativas (CEJUSC-PR) in Porto Alegre. After reviewing basic notions of restorative justice and how it differs from the punitive response, it draws on participant observation to describe how restorative practices unfold in cases of adolescents accused of offenses that reach the Center. It is part of a project on critical restorative justice in Latin America. Useful for those studying judicial restorative programs with adolescents.
