Summary
A code of the French Community of Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels Federation) governing prevention, youth assistance, and youth protection, including for young people who have committed an act classified as an offense. It provides that responses to youth offending must be educational and restorative, and devotes a title to restorative options: mediation proposed by the public prosecutor's office, with each participant's express consent, a signed agreement, and confidential documents; and restorative group conferencing, which brings in the victim, their social circle, and other relevant people. If the agreement is fulfilled, the public prosecutor's office may discontinue the proceedings. It entered into force on 1 January 2019.
