Summary
A Panamanian law that creates community justice of peace and regulates community mediation and conciliation. It organises the system at the level of the corregimientos, with justices of the peace and community mediators, and sets out principles, competences and procedures for resolving coexistence conflicts without recourse to the ordinary judicial route. Its entry into force was staggered: first in the Primer Distrito Judicial and then in the rest of the country. It was superseded by Ley 467 de 2025. It is useful for those studying the evolution of community mediation in Panama.
