Summary
The law currently in force, which replaces Ley 16 de 2016 and regulates community justice of peace and alternative dispute resolution methods in order to promote peaceful coexistence. It creates a special jurisdiction exercised by the community judge and the community mediator in the corregimientos, under the organisation of the Ministerio de Gobierno, and lists principles such as access, party autonomy and confidentiality. It is useful for those working in community mediation, for municipal officials and for those studying the institutional design of justice of peace in Panama.
